Sep 5, How To Plan Your Wedding If You Save $1000?

1. Your biggest expense will be your reception - on average it takes up about half of your budget! If you can find a cheaper option for your venue. Think about fun places locally that are not normally used for weddings - local cafes, schools, community centers, museums, even car show rooms. If the space is big enough, it can be used for your wedding. When you are catering for your wedding it doesn't have to be a full sit down meal, a fun BBQ, afternoon tea and cakes, a picnic, cocktails and canapes? The quality of the food can be amazing if you are not having to spend a fortune on three courses for everyone. For the drinks see if you can bring your own.2. Blow the whole 1,000 and have that fantastic wedding dress that you have always dreamed of! Or shop around and find your dream dress for much less money. Lots of ideas to find your cheap wedding gown:http:www.cheap-wedding-solutions.comcheap-wedding-gown.html3. Have the wedding photographer you wanttrust me you could easily spend 1,000 on your wedding photographs. You also could find a cheaper photographer by looking on Craigslist.org or find a photographer that is just starting out. Make sure you check their work and meet with them so that you know you get on and can work together.4. You could have flowers everywhere, wedding flowers are expensive, but 1,000 would be lots! Or you could be clever with where you use your flowers. Use your ceremony flowers at your wedding venue - use your groomsmen to organize moving them. Have your wedding bouquet and those of your bridesmaids as the flowers on the tables at your reception. 5. Wedding cake - what would a 1,000 wedding cake look like? Big, yes and very decorative, it would be a statement wedding cake! But really 1,000 on cake in the big scheme of things is just plain silly. You can buy very reasonable cakes at places like Walmart, Costco and local bakers, which you could then decorate yourself.6. Wedding invitations - 1,000 on save the dates, invitations, RSVP, and thank you cards and you would have high quality invitations. Or save yourself a bundle and make your own, or shop around for a better deal, there are lots out there. When it comes to planning a wedding you can easily spend a fortune but if you are lucky to have an extra 1,000 that you were not expecting, you can add lots of special touches. It is also completely possible to have your wedding for 1,000. You will need to do a lot yourself and be creative but it will be a very beautiful and personal wedding. Of course you could also use the 1,000 towards your honeymoon! Now where did I put those brochures? You could have your whole wedding for 1,000, lots of couples do!http:www.cheap-wedding-solutions.comdessert-wedding-reception-for-150-people-for-under-1000.html

Safari At The Zoo Passport Invitation

To celebrate a 5th birthday, at the Detroit Zoological Society, Metro Luxe Events Candice Vallone wanted to capture the true spirit of the day in the invitation.Calling on the talents of Celeste Simpson of Impress Me Designs, a day at the Zoo Safari Passport invitation was the perfect mix of message and motivation to attend. The Safari Zoo Passport Invitation by Impress Me Designs developed into a 6 page booklet bound in natural raffia with an outside cover made from cream heavy canvas. The inside of the passport booklet was printed on a natural desert colored paper and the corners of each page were individually rounded. To give the look and feel of a true passport. Impress Me Designs used natural elements and earth tone colors to mimic the feel and textures one might find on safari in Africa. Each animal was accentuated by matching "flocked" papers outlining the borders of each page with patterns representative of the Zebra, Giraffe and Cheetah. Texture was an important element designed to bring each animal to life. The animals and details were printed in a dramatic black to jump out at you.To bring more interest to the background, different passport destination stamps were subtly watermarked into the paper. No detail was overlooked. Even the return address had a rhinoceros making an appearance. The envelope was sent with a custom postage stamp designed to compliment the safari theme.Luxurious Wedding Recommends... This means finding money for tuition, room and board, books, and spending money. College can be expensive, so finding the funds to pay for it all can be quite a task.

There is no denying it. I have been a loyal fan for as long as the magazine has been in existence. When they added the website and blog to the mix- as Rachael Zoe my favorite celebrity stylist would say, "I die". What I love about Martha Stewart Weddings is the uncompromisable standard of quality and loyalty to the wedding world. I adore that its always been about the joy, beauty, and fun of a wedding.

By the way TODAY is the last day this issue is on newsstands!
Well, the summer issue this year was hands down one of my favorites yes, I say that every time, but its true. I was ripping pages out left and right.

One of my favorite reasons I loved this issue was that there was a bit of a focus on my favorite wedding element- cake. In my opinion, wedding cake is what takes a great dinner party to a wedding dinner.

Somehow classic and contemporary at the same time. Don't you think?

This one, to me finds a way to be sophisticated and whimsical.

What will be on the newsstands tomorrow? The fashion issue.
Yes, I am sure it will be one of my favorites ever as well. Do you have a favorite issue?

Here in Massachusetts, we have great down-ballot races, including the hyper-important treasurer slot. The Steves, Dem Grossman and Murphy, head to next week's deciding primary and have just released TV and net ads. One's annoying and the other set oddly impersonal for a personable candidate.Below are Murphy's annoying spot and Grossman's soft-sell.Maybe looking askance at two sincere efforts speaks ill of me, but as The Tick famously responded to the query, "Where the is that jerk who calls himself The Tick?", "I am that jerk."Republican nominee Karyn Polito has the luxury of watching the men piddle away their funds. She faces no primary opposition.Murphy seems oddly proud of starting his ad campaign 24 hours before Grossman. He tweeted that several times. Perhaps that's defensive, as his campaign website required a change of developers and was a couple of months late out of the gate. That Steve's effort is certainly memorable, possibly negatively so. It flashes three big, almost meaningless, out-of-contest factoids one after another. It's the 71 billion in state debt, the per-capital allotment, and the 2 billion MA borrows annually. Each gets the red NO circle and slash with a super-annoying buzz. The coda is Steve standing stiffly saying that when he's treasurer, all this will stop. He ends with, "I'm not afraid to say no."Note to Murphy: Don't leave your target voters with ringing ears.Of course, all states float bonds and do other borrowing and while on paper you could assign various debt per citizen. Ergo? Then more to the point, the treasurer has duties and powers, but usurping the decisions of the governor and legislator are not among them. Who here believes this Steve could arrive and clear the debt used for cash flow? For Grossman, the oddity is not the content but the presentation. First, he's a ghost. This Steve comes across in person and at stump speeches as smart, sincere and competent the grown Eagle Scout he is.Both this Respect vid and the Restore one on his website seem overly humble. A voice-over not Steve speaks of him in the third person. One vid speaks of his generosity and compassion in keeping an employee with cancer on at full pay during treatment. The other talks about what a savvy business guy he was in expanding the family company with the implication that he can do the same for a certain New England commonwealth. The punchlines are more believable than Murphy's. Grossman will put the state checkbook online and in two related policies, provide transparency and require full disclosure of operations. Those are important and things a treasurer can do.However, his real campaign is that he would use the billions under the treasurer's purview to lend to MA businesses, growing jobs and companies, and speeding us out of this recession. Likewise, Murphy has said repeatedly that he'd do a timid version of that and help small businesses with cash problems. Neither has ads that get to this real substance. Moreover for Grossman's, he is certainly his own best advocate. Yet, his pair of ads leave him a silent, black-and-white wisp. Instead of where's the beef, it's where's the Steve?Certainly in the initial salvo, Grossman wins. Then again, he is a professional communicator. How odd though that his lackeys apparently didn't have the nerve to say, "You need to speak to the voters in these." He does need to.Tags: massmarrier, elections, Massachusetts, treasurer, Polito, Grossman, Murphy, ads

If you are having a vintage inspired wedding make sure to look into Jenny Packham Wedding Gowns. These beautiful dresses can be a bit pricey, but are well worth it if they are within your budget. There are also a variety of shapes and styles for every body type.

It is amazing to see the inspiration from an array of eras in her new collection. It is kind of like going into a very fashionable grandma's closet! Jenny Packham Wedding Gowns not only have a vintage side, but have an edgy new age vintage touch. She does an excellent job incorporating old and new in an uber chic way! Courtest of David Beahm Design

High or low centerpieces? Long or round tables? These are the tough decisions you and your florist will have to make. No matter what you choose there are some guidelines you should follow to ensure that your centerpieces don't block your guests' view across the table. We asked New York event designer David Beahm for his expert tips on designing floral centerpieces and reception decor. Here's what he had to say:

5 Must-Read Floral Decor Tips
First impressions are the most important, and typically those details are the last things your guests see as they leave. The escort card table and arrangement set the immediate tone of the celebration and starts to tell your story.

For instance, for Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones' wedding, we created a life-size tree 12' tall by 15' wide from which the escort cards were hung alphabetically, of course. An attendant assisted guests in finding their seating assignment and snipped each ribbon with a pair of golden, bird-shaped scissors. Instantly, the guests had another thing to talk about.

When approaching a round table -- height and your guests' sightlines are two important factors. The arrangement either needs to be under 12" in height to facilitate conversation or soar high above the table, leaving guests a clear view of their tablemates.

I think palm fronds are entirely underutilized and create bang for your buck with their feathery leaves hovering above the heads of your guests.

A high design facilitates a "wow" factor as guests enter the room -- but what's equally as important is what that piece looks like to your guests as they sit at the table.

The underside of the arrangement the dressing of the structure and the decor at eye level all comprise a successful arrangement - sitting under an umbrella-style canopy of floral is always a thrill.

Heaven is in the details -- consider every space that your guest will experience, including the restrooms. A small, thoughtful arrangement in the ladies room accompanied by a scented candle and amenities baskets let your guest know that their comfort and enjoyment has been thought through.

And should you like, we have completely upholstered a restroom in flora and foliage, creating a whimsical Garden of Eden complete with reflexologists in the most utilitarian place.

A glistening river of clear glassware proceeding down the center of the table makes for a fabulous look. Each vessel is filled with water and a botanical element.

Connecting the display into a single arrangement are malleable floral elements such as bear grass, tulips or miniature calla lilies that "dance" from vessel to vessel. The entire look is punctuated by a plethora of flickering votive candles.

For height -- if needed -- the look can be augmented by a duo or trio of tall arrangements and a series of tall decorative candles.

Jenny Packham and 1920's styling was the order of the day for Emma Adam's wedding at Chewton House just outside Bristol. In fact Emma's Jenny Packham 'Joy' dress provided the inspiration for the whole wedding!

The wedding theme came about by chance as when Emma visited Wedding Days in Cheltenham bridal shop to look for a potential wedding dress. She hadn't had much luck in her search up til then but luckily for her, a promotions representative from Jenny Packham happened to be visiting the store that day and had a few "one off" dresses for Wedding Days to show case for one day only. The last dress she tried on was "Joy". It was exactly what she had been looking for. The bride then came up with the idea to theme the whole wedding about the 1920's30's style of the dress.

No-Show: Overlap of Cowardice and Calculation

Races in MA? Yeah, we have heated elections this year.Trying to chill their own though are a surprising number of candidates. They mingle with voters. They hug the gray heads. They appear solo on Chris Lovett's interviews. What they don't do is mix it up. They do their damnedest not to debate. They keep their interviews few and short. They don't even show for those wishy-washy public forum thingummies.A tip of the toupee to the Needham Patch for covering the 50 9th Congressional show yesterday. The short of it is there were two chairs on the dais for the Dems and two for the Republicans headed for the September 14th primary. One from each party was occupied. That did not include incumbent Rep. Steve Lynch or the GOP's Keith Lepor. To their credit, Democrat Mac D'Alessandro and Republican Vernon Harrison stated their positions and kicked around areas of contention. You needn't be a cynic to take Lynch to task. He has spent this campaign season saying how gutsy he is. That has not included facing any public challenges of any sort. His hiding from criticism of his record or mouth-to-ear combat scream arrogance as well as cowardice.Disclaimer: We at Left Ahead! have been unsuccessful in getting Lynch on our show. His campaign has blown off repeated phone and email requests. Recently several contacts with people at his HQ and with campaign guy Conor Yuntis face to face have produced firm promises to set a date for a show before the primary. When Yuntis asked one time how long I wanted and heard that our guests went for 30 to 60 minutes, he said Lynch would be intimidated and suggested 10 or at the most 20 minutes. Even with reminders, nothing has happened.Challenger D'Alessandro is not timid. You can listen to his podcast here.We have other anti-democracy, anti-openness types this time. In particular, Secretary of State Bill Galvin has similarly avoided as much public exposure as possible. Challengers independent Jim Henderson and Bill Campbell have been out there, available, and calling for debates. A huge difference for them is that they'll have a shot, being on the ballot in November. For the 9th though, Lynch knows that he only has to hide a little longer to avoid comparisons with D'Alessandro. Only one Dem makes it through the primary, likewise on the Republican side. The incumbent cowering in the back room is a simple idea. If don't come out to detail and defend what you've done in office, voters may figure you've been on OK job and re-elect you.I for one am pissed...mightily. For me, an incumbent candidate who doesn't have the courage to stand up to challengers in debate can't expect us to believe he'll stand up for us in Congress. Someone who hides in the tent while the battle rages has lost any claim to victory and the honor attached to the struggle. We've had a democratic process in place here for centuries, a tradition most evident in campaigns for office.Do you suppose Lynch, Lepor and Galvin had an exemption for their civics and history classes?I say if they won't talk in front of you, don't vote for them.Hider and Loser Note: It's a very small universe and unscientific, but so far we have seen that those few who hide from Left Ahead! podocast lose elections. It doesn't necessarily work in the inverse, that is, those who join us don't always win. However, the likes of Martha Coakley when she ran for the U.S. Senate illustrate the conceit. Blow off Left Ahead! as surrogate for voters at your own risk.Tags: massmarrier, Lynch, D'Alessandro, Harrison, Lepor, debates, courage, cowardice

Pam Nathan are so effortlessly in love that we can't help but aww at these sweet, everyday moments: reading directions together, packing the car, spending the day on the lake All together now: aww! Whats fun about this fun little sneak peek into P Ns happiness is that the pair actually is recreating Nathans sweet waterfront proposal at the Oakhurst Farms in Georgia. They even managed to snag the same canoe! Again, we say, aww! With that, I'm off to celebrate my last weekend as a bachelorette... starting with an all-day marathon of Law and Order. Wish me luck!

Real Texas Wedding: RaeAnna + Kris

We fell in love with the "deer" portrait in the top left as soon as the images came in from Barry at Captivated Images, and how could we not? We love a couple with a sense of humor! Check out the "jest married" sign at the end, too! RaeAnna Kris's ranch branding details, light hunting touches, and bright colored bridesmaid dresses sealed the deal for us. Kudos to RaeAnna's grandmother, who handled all of the flowers!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We met in the fall of 2008 I had just started in the ER and Kris was one of the charge nurses. Lifes circumstances had us on different paths, and we did not even really converse much until I found out he was my secret Santa for the units gift exchange. Following the Christmas party in January 2009, we started spending some time together, and once we began dating in February, it was only weeks until we knew we had found the one God had for each of us. Describe the proposal: Kris set up a scavenger hunt to lead me to his intended proposal site. He called and told me to get ready for the day, and to call him when I was ready. When I did, he told me to go to the first place we met, which was at a nurses station at work. Beginning there, each place I arrived at had roses, framed pictures of us, and a note hinting where to go next. After visiting the first place we met, first place we ate together, and the first place we danced, he told me to drive toward the lake outside of town. I passed him on the highway and he had me pull over, blindfolded me, and then drove me to a beautiful little place near a pond and an old church. After leading me to the intended site, he let me take off the handkerchief. I removed it to find him down on his knee, on a blanket scattered with red rose petals, shaking as he began to read a letter he wrote me. At the end, he pulled out a little wooden box, opened it exposing the most beautiful ring Id ever seen, and asked me to be his wife.Three adjectives that describe the day are: Joyful, enchanted, and perfect What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? We were married outdoors at a beautiful lake house in West Texas. Kris wore his elephant hide cowboy boots with his tux. Our rod iron arch with Texas stars faced the lake and marked the altar. The landscaping was very suiting for a Southern wedding and included iron roadrunners and cactus, old cow skulls, wagon wheels, horse spurs, and even more Texas stars. Barbecue brisket was the entre of choice, and of course we had to have sweet tea to wash down the meal.Tell us about finding your wedding dress: The first day of dress hunting with my mother, sisters, and stepdaughters-to-be over was unsuccessful. Since I had never done this before, I was not aware that we had to make appointments before venturing out. We were not even able to browse in some stores, and it was rather disheartening. I found the perfect dress on my second outing with friends it was elegant but still practical for the potentially scorching West Texas heat.Describe your wedding flowers: One of my grandmothers worked in a floral shop for years, and did all the flower arrangements for us. My bouquet was made of white calla lilies, yellow carnations, and coral roses, and Kris wore a single calla lily. The bridesmaids carried three white calla lilies, the groomsmens boutonnires boasted orange and yellow mini-roses, and the centerpieces were bold arrangements with various flowers of coral, orange, and yellow to match our colors. What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? After speeches were made and we were toasted to, our toasting flutes disappeared. I saw them again later when Kris opened the door to our wedding suite at the bed and breakfast we stayed at that night. He had friends of ours bring the flutes to the room, chill the champagne, and sprinkle the floor with rose petals. It meant so much to me that he had taken the time on such a hectic day to do something so special for me. Whats next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Right now we are just enjoying life as newlyweds. We are blessed by Kris three children, Dillan, Miranda, and Destiny, and are thankful to have them in our home. They keep us busy, make us laugh everyday, and they look forward to having another brothersister in the future. Kris and I are eager to have more vacations and make more memories like ones from our honeymoon getaway. As a family, we are working on getting horses and cattle on the familys ranch.

Do you all adorethe "I Do" on the bottom of these wedding shoes as much as I do? Forgive the Paul Simon reference in the title - I couldn't resist. I found these on the amazing blog ofphotographer Susan Yates, where they help make a great wedding photo.
