I’ll be straight with you. Our seating chart and venue layout were two of the biggest challenges we faced while planning the wedding. Even so, they were challenges I was totally up for, being the obsessive organizer that I am! Here’s a diagram of the layout we ended up using, plus a few tips that [...]

I love this light pink wedding dress -- the asymmetrical detail, the subtle beading on the waist and top of the bodice; it's just so stunning and delicate! I picture this wedding taking place at bed and breakfast where the decor features a subtle French theme. The bride wears pearls and a pair of pink shoes...

If I had a WTM, I would go back in time, and decidedly NOT ask my future sister-in-law to be my matron of honor, and I would NOT ask my future niece to be my flower girl. Then, we'd only have deal with bullshit from one member of the bridal party, my future brother-in-law, whom I know my fiance would still ask to be in the wedding, even if he had a WTM, because asshole or no...

I had totally intended to do a pre-wedding post about the Chelsea Clinton nuptial extravaganza, but I think I just got bored reading over and over again about how her Astor Court wedding will cost a zillion dollars and isn’t that irresponsible and this or that political bigwig is hurt because she’s not invited and [...]

Jenni & George are another 'inspired by Rock n Roll Bride' couple who found their photographer Shan after she was featured on the blog. The couple, who got married on the Isle of Man, wanted to incorporate he things they love into their day - the colour purple and all things eclectic, antique and vintage. "I have a love of all things antique and vintage and my favourite colour is purple! So that's where it began. I bought a lot of the antique bottles from places like eBay, Jurby Junk (!!) and our friend Roger Leece, who found a whole stack of bottles and jars buried somewhere up North apparently!" the bride told me.

Jacklyn & Noah got married at Cibolo Creek, just outside of Marfa, Texas. It was just the two of them and their little boy Ace. They decided they wanted their wedding to be just about them, "under the big sky". Jacklyn wore a vintage Mexican dress from the 70's, a 1930's diamond bracelet that both belonged to her mother and a lace shawl that she had found in Italy at an open air antique market. She carried pink roses and gardenia from their garden for her bouquet which she put with some wildflowers that she collected on the way down. Noah wore a shirt from the 70's which they found the day before they left for Marfa.

There is always a lot of chatter around blog land about details details details. Photographers are obsessed with getting couples with detail-heavy weddings so that the blogs and magazine will want to feature them. While this is true (after all wedding blogs and mags are primarily read by brides-to-be who want to see weddings with ideas they can steal for their own big day) do you ever think that this obsession to have a 'blog-worthy' detail heavy wedding might be a little excessive? I'm not one to slag aaaanybody's wedding off but I do see some weddings circulating around blog land that just seem so...well...contrived. Like a circus almost. Like a made-for-blogs-wedding-circus. The results are pr...

Tamara & Peter are kind of opposites. Tamara is heavily tattooed and Peter is a little more conservative. So their wedding was a combination of their two personalities: Ms. offbeat meets Mr. onbeat. The result couldn't have been more beautiful.

This business has paid a fee to be listed on offbeatbride.com because they feel their wedding products and services are in-line with offbeat brides’ philosophies and needs … and I agree. Here’s more info about how advertising works on offbeatbride.com.
Remember Seattle photographer Jenny GG? We profiled her once before and as a result she got to shoot some wonderful offbeat brides. Or as she put it, "'Offbeat' has only resulted in awesome so I want more!" So she's back with yet another special offer and some more offbeat porn as a result! Jenny traveled to [...]

 Dear ESB

We cancelled our destination wedding after nearly having a mental breakdown trying to organise the silly thing. Fair enough since we had just bought our own business at the time and were trying to learn to work together and run a business, never mind organizing a wedding as well. So even though the 'saves the dates' had been se...

Perfume commercials are always corny or pretentious. But this one, from 1985, reaches a new high on the cheesiness scale. Maybe it’s post-modernism or deconstructionism or existentialism. Or maybe it’s just hilarious. Man. Calvin Klein commercials really used to make you think. Post from: BlissTree Ah, the Smell of It: Flashback Friday ... More
